With one or two exceptions it was in the ownership of the Keep family from 1871 to 1925. In 1871 Maria Keep opened as a beer seller and, according to Kelly's Directory of 1902-03 and 1917 Frederick Keep was the landlord. The premises, which stood at the corner of Harrow Road,  were rebuilt at some time around the turn of the last century.
