Electric Vehicles

Newham Council uses new eco-friendly vehicles in its parks.

Serco, who hold the Council contract for parks maintenance, has recently acquired a small fleet of battery operated vehicles. Two are seen here near the cenotaph in Central Park, East Ham, with their Newham Council and Serco logos.

The vehicles were supplied by Locators of Dorset who import and distribute a range of electric utility vehicles manufactured by Goupil Industrie of France. The vehicle has a payload of up to 700kg and, being just over a metre wide, is ideally suited to urban operations. These vehicles are very quiet and have low running costs with zero emissions; they have a 100km range and a top speed of 40 kmh (about 25 mph).
