EMMANUEL HOUSE OF WORSHIP

Emmanuel Church has taken over the former British Flag pub in Canning Town E16. The former public house has become a 'house of worship.'

Here one of the growing number of new churches in Newham- now over 200- has moved into and adapted the pub that stood at the corner of Munday Road and Victoria Dock Road, Canning Town E16.

Emmanuel means 'God with us' and this congregation is the fourth- and latest- church in Newham to carry the name Emmanuel. There are Anglican and Pentecostal churches in Forest Gate and a Pentecostal congregation in East Ham called Emmanuel.

Right across Newham shops, garages, halls and pubs are becoming faith buildings as churches are joined by mosques and temples in the take over and redevelopment of old buildings for worship.
