The area, now know as Newham, was mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It would seem that the Normans showed a great interest in the area.
St Mary Magdalene
The ancient parish church of St Mary Magdalene was built in Norman times and is still in use today. It has one of the best preserved Norman Arches in the country and the churchyard is almost 10 acres. This early postcard is c1910
